Female Tinder users have long complained about the relentless harassments they get from men.  The messages females get can range from harmless pick-up lines to lewd or offensive remarks.

In California, a computer engineer using the pseudonym Patrick has designed a Tinder program that matched two unwitting heterosexual males against each other.

The program works by matching two men that both "like" the bait profiles. The first fake profile used the image of a vlogger named Boxxy while the second is from an acquaintance that gave her permission to Patrick.

The men's messages, which can either be ordinary or forceful, are relayed back and forth through the fake profile.

The program was made possible due to vulnerabilities in the Tinder program. Patrick said he met his girlfriend through Tinder. He was prodded to develop the program because his female friends would tell him about the kind of messages they get on Tinder.

He first planned to make a Twitter bot to tweet back the first message his female friends get.  Later, he decided to tweak Tinder's API since there's not much protection in their system considering its vulnerability.

He said it's easy to create a Tinder bot. The hacker just needs an authentication token from Facebook and he's got a bot interacting like a real human.

Minutes after the program went active, it already made several matches. Around 40 Tinder conversations were established in the first 12 hours. Real world meeting is avoided by the program, which jumbled the telephone numbers.

With regards to the morality of the prank, he said men virtually ignored all the warning signs.  He also said that if they're so eager to meet a person without asking for much detail, then he thinks they deserved it.
