Millions of readers all around the world have fallen in love with the late Stieg Larsson's dark yet intelligent thrillers. The heroes of the series hacker Lisbeth Salander and journalist Mikale Blomqvist attempt to solve a long-standing murder mystery, which occurred within an enigmatic Swedish family involved with sex-trafficking scandals and accused of exercising personal revenge.

"The Girl in the Spider's Web" follows "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," "The Girl Who Played with Fire," and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest," which have sold more than 2.5 million copies, collectively, in Canada alone since they were launched back in 2008. More than 80 million copies of the series have been sold all over the world.

The latest addition to the series, was reported to have been typed on a personal computer with no internet connection or whatsoever and personally delivered to its publisher.

This will be the first book not written by Stieg, who suffered a heart attack in 2004 and passed away at the age of 50. Stieg's father Erland Larsson and his brother Joakim Larsson, who own the rights to the series, had chosen Swedish author David Lagercrantz to write and continue the series. And while the fourth book obviously built its story on the previous books, Eva Gedin, head of publishing, revealed back in 2013, that David will not include the story that Stieg has started writing but wasn't able to finish.

Stieg's partner Eva Gabrielsson, who has been battling Stieg's father and brother over the rights to his work has described their decision as "tasteless."

David, whose work credits include "I am Zlatan," has said that he was initially reluctant to write the fourth book but eventually changed his mind when he read the novels again and felt the need to extend the book's heroes' lives.
