Warner Bros. has their eyes set on Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne for the starring role in the Harry Potter spinoff titled "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

British novelist, JK Rowling, the author of Harry Potter is directly involved in the upcoming project and is also the one penning the film's script.

David Yates, who directed four of the successful Harry Potter movies, is also on board to direct the film, which is set seventy years before the events in the Harry Potter series and focuses on a fictitious author who's known as Newton Artemis Fido Scamander. In true Potter form, Newton compiled a complete reference guide to the magical beasts and the spinoff movie series will follow his adventures after he is tasked to write the book.

Redmayne, the actor who's currently heavily courted by the studio to play Newton, has yet to comment on the news, though the studio insists that he is their top choice. One thing that's preventing the "The Theory of Everything" star from making a decision is the script that's still being worked on. Sources close to the 33-year old actor said that Redmayne does not want to commit until he gets to read the final script.

Other lead roles in the movie are Newton's two sisters, their parents and another character named Jacob.

Redmayne has become a studio favorite after outdoing his role in Jupiter Ascending, despite not doing so good at the box office. However, his fan base grew a lot more after taking home the best actor Oscar award for his portrayal of physicist Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.

Redmayne may be up for another Oscar award for his new drama "The Danish Girl" in which he plays Lili Elbe, a transgender artist.

Warner Bros. has yet to comment on the news.
