The Big Fundamental, Tim Duncan, led the San Antonio Spurs to yet another victory over the Phoenix Suns (107-91) last Sunday night. The defending National Basketball Association (NBA) champions are riding high with 11 straight wins.

For years, Duncan has been a pillar of Spurs play. Last Sunday was no different as he made 22 points and had 10 rebounds to lead his team to get the "W."

With the win, the Spurs move into second place in the Western Conference. They also take a half game lead over the idle Memphis Grizzlies in the Southwest Division.

To date, the Spurs have won 21 out of 24 games.

Apart from the original big three of the Spurs that have led them to a number of titles - namely Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker - some new blood injected into the squad are growing to be bigger and better contributors to the Spurs dynasty.

Chief among them is Kahwi Leonard who scored 18 points and had 9 rebounds, while Marco Belinelli had 13 points. Parker made 10 with five assists on the side.

The Spurs improve their record to 55-26.

For the Suns, Gerald Green and Eric Bledsoe looked to lead their team to beat the Spurs, scoring 23 and 20 respectively.

However, the flailing Suns team was just not up to beat the defending champions. The loss eliminates them from playoff contention, losing four straight and nine out of 10. Their record sits at 39-42.

It wasn't as if the Spurs were dominating the whole game.

During the first and second quarter, the Spurs failed to make any sort of basket for 4:20 of total game time.

Despite it though, the lead never changed in the Suns' favor.

Revitalized, the Spurs went on a 15-6 run, establishing a 38-24 lead by the middle of the second quarter.

Even Head Coach Gregg Popovich showered the Spurs with some praise for their great efforts.
