Samsung is facing a lot pressure for its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S6, to be a really big hit.  Apple impressed the world with its iPhone 6 and a lot of Android phones offer interesting features and are reasonably priced, too.

The Korean smartphone maker has the disappointing habit of launching the same phones with a small number of enhancements every year. The Galaxy S6 Edge proved that Samsung can make visual appealing smartphones but Samsung has yet to show it can do the same with the specs.  Ironically, it found the inspiration to do just that from Apple.

The Galaxy S6 isn't a copy of the iPhone 6 but is a different phone from its predecessors.  No more plastic or fake leather rear casing. Instead, the S6 sports a glass look on both front and back with a metal lining around its rim.

The S6 is slightly heavier and bigger than the new iPhone but easier to handle. It still has the look of a Galaxy S5 but the manufacturer ditched the storage expansion for the microSD, the waterproof feature and also the removable battery.

The latest Galaxy S Smartphone also has a fingerprint sensor and it uses a mechanism to unlock the mobile device just like in the iPhone 6.

Aside from the fingerprint sensor, the S6 offers a lot of its own features. There is a heart rate monitor that also acts as a selfie shutter button.

It supports two wireless charging options. The smartphone has a brand new and very fast processor, IR blaster and extremely loud speaker. The camera is a 16 MP that has optical stability. Its screen display is a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution.

The basic Samsung Galaxy S6 will cost you around US$600 the Galaxy S6 Edge will cost you an additional US$100.
