Amidst rumors that Colin Farrell might take the place of Robert Downey Jr. in the next Iron Man movie, Downey just wants to make it clear - he's still not through playing Iron Man quite yet.

Speculation of an "Iron Man 4" without Downey was sparked by rumors that his character, Tony Stark, will be killed off in the "Avengers 2: Age of Ultron".

The Avengers movie is set to be released before the next Iron Man movie.

The rumor that Tony Stark might be killed off in the sequel was fueled by the actor posting on his Facebook fan page that he was "unemployed for two days" since he was already done filming for the second installment of the Avengers franchise. At that time, the movie had not wrapped up filming. Currently, the production is only halfway through completion.

While Marvel Studios President Kevin Fiege stated that he believes that the Iron Man franchise will live on and continue for an nth number of sequels, there has been no confirmation yet of whether or not Downey will be in "Iron Man 4".

Downey said that the decision will all come down to what Disney, Feige and, Ike Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment, want, as well as whether or not all parties agree on a proposal.

"When things are going great, there's a lot of agreement," he added.

And right now, things are great.

"This has been a really good one and it feels good and we're having a good time," he shared while taking a break filming "Avengers 2".

He added that although there are no certainties yet, he still doesn't want to give up the role of Tony Stark.

"It's that thing of... why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed? Most people are saying that right when they get knocked out," says Downey.
