New reports are claiming that Bruce Jenner started his gender reassignment process back in the 1980s but stopped after he fell in love with Kris Jenner, who came to be his third wife.

A source revealed to Entertainment Tonight that the former Olympic medalist started receiving hormone therapy and electrolysis and even got a few plastic surgery operations to make his features appear womanlier, 30 years ago.

The source further shared that Bruce even found his facial hair, repulsive.

The surprising news, which was broadcast on Thursday night, claimed that Bruce was already consulting with doctors about gender reassignment surgery in Denmark but changed his mind when she met Kris, the ex-wife of the late famous attorney, Robert Kardashian.

This revelation comes just a few hours before the famous athlete and reality star's interview with Diane Sawyer, in which he is expected to discuss his personal journey and his transition from man to woman.

As Bruce and Kris' romance blossomed between 1990 and 1991, Bruce reportedly stopped his hormone therapy and even had breast reduction surgery. They married on April 21 of 1991 and went on to have two daughters together, 19-year old Kendall and 17-year old Kylie, before deciding to divorce in December 2014.

ET reported that the source revealed Bruce was influenced by the real life story of Renee Richards, the famous transgender tennis player.

Renee, who was born as Richard Raskind, had a gender reassignment surgery and filed a lawsuit against the US Tennis Association after they didn't allow her to compete as a woman in the U.S. Open. In 1977, the Supreme Court in New York ruled in her favor, which became a pivotal time in the history of transgender people.

And it is believed that Second Serve, Renee's autobiography, greatly influenced Bruce.

The patriarch of the Kardashian-Jenner clan has been seen in promos for the Diane Sawyer interview saying that he's prepared for this his whole life. And many have voiced out their support for Bruce including his family, friends and even Dr. Phil McGraw, who said, "It's his body and life and he needs to do what he wants to do."

"He is freeing himself," he added.
