Speculations were raised that China actress Tang Wei's planned marriage with Korean director Kim Tae Young was because she was pregnant.

Her announcement of the engagement recently has been met with criticisms mostly about her choice to marry the director.

Some asked why she chose the lesser-known director when she could have chosen renowned Korean actor Hyun Bin whom she was romantically linked to in the past.

She met Kim Tae Young in 2011 while filming the movie "Last Autumn" but the couple has only started dating for about a year prior to their engagement.

The pair fell in love with each other in 2013 when Tang Wei was in South Korea filming a commercial.

Other comments were linked to the actress being pregnant and this seemed to have come to the spotlight again.

On July 22, the 34-year old actress attended the SK-II Skin Care Asia campaign held in Shanghai, China along with other endorsers of the luxury skin care line including Hollywood actress Cate Blanchet.

Although the rumors that the actress was rushing to marriage due to pregnancy were immediately dismissed by her public relations, photos taken at Tuesday's SK-II event showed that the actress was noticeably bloated. Her midsection also appeared flaccid.

The actress, wearing a white, fitted formal dress, was said to have accidentally revealed her baby bump when she sat down.

When media personnel noticed this, they immediately jumped to the question of whether the actress was having a flash wedding for that reason.

Organizers of said event tried to aid the actress to dodge the question of the reporters, but the actress seemed to be in a good mood and took the questions good-naturedly.

Instead of addressing the question, Tang Wei shared her thoughts and feelings about her wedding in autumn, saying "I believe that every woman who encounters a life-changing opportunity will not let it go. If you take the chance, this opportunity will change your life."

Her spokesperson shared that there have been no discussions of decisions where the couple is settling after marriage and Tang Wei also expressed that she will not give up on her acting career.

The actress added, "Keeping a healthy spirit and pursuing the joys that please your heart."
