Etta Ng Wants to Meet Jackie Chan, Feels "Incomplete" Without Her Father

After having an affair with actor and martial artist, Jackie Chan, Elaine Ng gave birth to their love child, Etta Ng. And while Jackie has spoken up and left their meeting up to fate, Etta has been vocal about wanting to meet the father she has never known.

Elaine, who insisted that she never received any child support from Jackie, raised Etta alone in Shanghai before deciding to move back to Hong Kong in 2010. And while the mother and daughter avoided publicly discussing Jackie, they recently started making headlines when news about Elaine physically abusing Etta surfaced.

Being a single mother, who struggled raising her daughter alone, Elaine turned to alcohol, which eventually resulted in physical altercations with Etta. The 15-year old then confided in her teenager, who called the police to report the abuse in March. The child abuse case shed some light on how the mother and daughter have been struggling, which caused many to wonder if they wouldn't be in this situation had Jackie accepted Etta as her own and had been more involved in their lives.

A source close to the situation revealed that Etta has long wanted to meet her father. The source said that after they moved to Hong Kong, Etta kept hearing and watching news about Jackie, which made her want to meet her father more. However, Elaine was extremely against the idea, thus the reason why they would always end up in arguments. Because of this, Etta rebelled and became unfocused in school. Though she knows her mother loves her, she feels incomplete without a father.

During that time, Elaine was also dealing with problems of her own. Aside from not being able to land consistent acting jobs, she was also pressured by the media and was constantly quizzed about Jackie. Failing to deal with the stress, she consulted with a psychiatrist and drank alcohol "to numb herself," the source said.

Etta, who witnessed her mother's distress, tried to slash her wrists, which forced the school to call the police after they discovered the scars on her hand and concluded that the teenager has thought about taking her own life.

In a previous interview, Jackie opened up about Etta for the first time, and while he admitted that he has hurt her daughter, it remains uncertain whether he plans to actually meet with her or not.

"Sometimes it is better to not talk about certain things. Let nature take its course!" he said.
