Lady Gaga slams critics for fat-shaming

Lady Gaga has been fat-shamed once again after recently adding a bit of bulk to her body.

Last Saturday, the 28-year-old singer was made fun of after looking a bit bulkier while performing at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Her typical routine of changing costumes throughout her show revealed a curvier figure.

After fans called her "fat", the pop star decided to respond to critics through a black-and-white photo of herself that she posted on Instagram last July 21 with the caption, "curvy and proud".

One of the comments for the photo said: "Gaga is over, she is fat, Katy [Perry] is better than her."

The picture has gained over 135,000 likes from Gaga's online followers.

In 2012, Gaga admitted to having gained 25 pounds as she "binged on pasta and pizza" during the summer. In an interview with radio host Elvis Duran, Gaga said that she has started dieting after putting on weight but doesn't feel bad at all about the weight gain.

As a response to fat-shaming, the pop star launched her campaign, urging her "little monsters" all over the world to accept their physical flaws and other "imperfections.

After posting photos of herself in underwear, The Fame Monster diva wrote the following commentary on her official website: "Today I join the BODY REVOLUTION. To Inspire Bravery. And BREED some m$therf**king COMPASSION. This profile is an extension of that dream. Be brave and celebrate with us your 'perceived flaws,' as society tells us. May we make our flaws famous, and thus redefine the heinous."

In 2013, Gaga went through a grueling bout of depression. The pop star told Harper's Bazaar how she was becoming worn out of fighting people off. She also associated her depression with anger, cynicism, and deep sadness.

On overcoming such ordeals, Lady Gaga has insisted on her love for music and her fans. "You have to [fight] for your music," she stated. "You have to for your fans and your family."
