'The Walking Dead' Star Seth Gilliam Arrested And Jailed

"The Walking Dead" actor Seth Gilliam was arrested early Sunday morning, May 3, 2015, by the Peachtree City, GA Police for DUI, drug possession, and speeding.

The 46-year-old actor, who plays a priest in the hit American zombie horror-drama television series, Rev. Gabriel Stokes, was pulled over around 2:00 in the morning after the police clocked him for going 107 mph in a 55 mph zone down a highway.

The Peachtree police officer claims he sniffed booze on Gilliam and inquired if the actor had been drinking. Gilliam reportedly admitted to having had three beers and a shot, and this was confirmed when he blew a .107 blood alcohol level. Apart from the booze, the police officer also detected marijuana in the air, and after searching Gilliam's car found a joint inside a cigarette box concealed in the arm rest.

The incident at Peachtree City, which is about 30 miles southwest of downtown Atlanta, is not far from where the "The Walking Dead" series was filmed in Senoia, Georgia. Gilliam was taken to the Fayette County Jail and was later released after posting a $9,818 bond.

"The Walking Dead" has begun shooting its sixth season. The series debuted on October 31, 2010 on the cable TV channel AMC and has become the unprecedentedly most-watched drama series telecast in cable history, with a viewership of 17.3 million for its season five premiere.

Gilliam's character, Rev. Gabriel Stokes, was introduced on the "The Waking Dead" in its fifth season, as a morally struggling Georgian Episcopal priest. Since the start of the zombie outbreak, Stokes shut himself from the outside world after locking out churchgoers and inadvertently causing their deaths. Conflicted and suffering from a spiritual and moral crisis, Stokes barricaded himself in his parish, St. Sarah's Episcopal Church, hiding from the undead and surviving off of canned goods.

Gilliam is also notable for his role as a cop, Ellis Carver, on HBO's American crime drama "The Wire" and as Clayton Hughes on HBO's prison drama "Oz." He has also acted on stage; in 1993 for the production of "Richard III" as Prince Edward and as the lead in Commonwealth Shakespeare Company's production of "Othello" in 2010.
