Former Hewlett-Packard chief executive Carly Fiorina on Monday officially announced her bid to enter the 2016 presidential campaign.

Carly Fiorina, 60, became the second woman to announce her entry into the 2016 presidential campaign. In her statement, she cited her experience in the private sector as her best edge against Hillary Rodham Clinton, according to the New York Times.

Despite polls showing only a slim chance of attracting support from Republicans, Carly Fiorina has nonetheless captured the hearts of conservatives at this early stage leading towards the 2016 presidential campaign. This is largely attributed to her strong stance on anti-abortion and her bold attacks on Clinton, the report explained.

"I think I'm the best person for the job because I understand how the economy actually works," Carly Fiorina told George Stephanopoulos of ABC. "I understand executive decision-making, which is making a tough call in a tough time with high stakes."

Carly Fiorina's announcement comes as Ben Carson, also a Republican and a retired neurosurgeon, made a formal announcement about his bid to join the 2016 presidential campaign, the New York Times said.

The Republicans now have five candidates joining the 2016 presidential campaign and eight more are expected to jump in, the report added.

In a conference call, Carly Fiorina told reporters that her journey from being the secretary of Hewlett-Packard to the chief executive position will set her apart from her fellow Republican candidates. She called her corporate background as something needed to transform the country into a "citizen government."

While talking about her 2016 presidential campaign, Carly Fiorina noticeably gave more focus on Hillary Clinton. She said her experience allows her to say that Clinton does not have a clear record of accomplishments in her stint as the U.S. Secretary of State.

Although she expressed her admiration for Clinton, Carly Fiorina also attacked her opponent's handling of the Benghazi issue, her private email scandal, and her acceptance of foreign donations for her foundation. Fiorina said Clinton did not practice transparency in those important fields, the report relayed.

It remains to be seen whether Carly Fiorina's corporate background will give her a lot of advantage in the 2016 presidential campaign.
