After Facebook Inc closed at the stock market on Wednesday, Zuckerberg's net worth increased to a staggering US$33.3 billion, putting him above the Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, and Amazon's CEO Jeff Bezos on Bloomberg's Billionaires Index.

Google co-founders Brin, 40, and Page, 40, took the 17th and 18th spot in the Billionaires Index, respectively, while Bezos, 50, occupied the 20th spot. Zuckerberg, 30, was on the 16th place.

"The Facebook Effect" author David Kirkpatrick said Zuckerberg is just getting started and will become the richest person alive.

"The company's success is growing by the minute," Kirkpatrick said. "There's no sign it's going to slow anytime soon."

Analysts estimated Facebook's second quarter sales to be an average of US$2.81 billion, but their expectations were exceeded when the second quarter reports came in showing sales of US$2.91 billion, which is 61 percent higher than the previous quarter.

Based on the Standard and Poor's 500 Index, Facebook showed the biggest gain in sales making a 13 percent jump within a year.

The California-based company had a net income of US$791 million, which is more than double than the last period.

More than 5.8 percent of all digital ad revenue in the world for 2013 comes from Facebook. The digital ad revenue record is 30 percent higher than their 2012s ad revenue.

Aside from Zuckerberg, Facebook's success also increased the net worth of its other shareholders.

Facebook's COO Sheryl Sandberg, 40, became one of the world's youngest female billionaires in January after receiving more than US$550 million in share sales on top of her US$740 million company stake.
