After battling greedy dragons and savage orcs, Martin Freeman is now trying his luck in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as he is reportedly joining the cast of "Captain America: Civil War."

Initial reports said that after being casted, it was not revealed which character the "Sherlock" star was going to play, but Cinema Blend reported that the actor will possibly play an interrogator who is slated to appear in another upcoming MARVEL movie, "Black Panther."

However, this nugget of information still lacked the material fans need to get going. One speculation made by GeekTyrant was that the actor might play a Phil Coulson-type of character, which serves as a singular thread that connects all MARVEL movies for its phase two.

Martin Freeman is an English actor who is well known for his roles in "The Hobbit" saga where he played the young and adventurous Bilbo Baggins, as well as the Dr. John Watson alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in "Sherlock."

Another assumption is that according to io9, he can also play the villain Everett Ross, who is the go-to expert when it comes to anything about Wakanda. Since Black Panther will make an appearance in the follow-up to "Captain America: Winter Soldier," as well as Ulysses Klaw, another villain and enemy of the Wakandan king, this theory is just as reasonable as the Phil Coulson character, if not even more. "Black Panther" will come out in 2017, with Chadwick Boseman as the titular character.

Emily VanCamp will also join the cast of the "Captain America" follow-up, reprising her role as Agent 13 a.k.a. Sharon Carter, a relative of Peggy Carter, the original love interest of Cap.

"Captain America: Civil War" will come out in May 6, 2016, and will loosely follow the original story created by Mark Millar.
