New ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Game Details Leaked Ahead of Schedule

Just recently, the Internet was flooded with what seems to be leaked information on the latest title in the "Assassin's Creed" series, Ubisoft's flagship. While the game was set to be officially unveiled tomorrow, May 12, with a big world premiere, reports had surfaced regarding its possible location and plot.

One of the photos that surfaced was one of a brass knuckle atop what seemed to be a wooden table inscribed with words. One of these read "Strength through Loyalty," while others were lines from books, the most prominent of which were from Charles Dickens. Perhaps most telling though were the words "God Save the Queen," which seemed to imply that the next "Assassin's Creed" would take place in Victorian England, specifically 19th-century London.

Ubisoft's official photo, on the other hand, is rather straightforward. It features a pair of hands amid a dark, rainy background. One hand is bare, except for a pair of brass knuckles, and holding a walking stick. The other hand is covered with "Assassin's Creed's" famous glove containing the Assassin Order's signature hidden blade.

The game is expected to hit shelves late next year and will be available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Unlike most other games in the franchise, this will be the only series entry for this year. In contrast, last year bore witness to two simultaneous launches: Unity and Rogue.

Reports from other publications suggest that "Assassin's Creed: Syndicate" follows the story of Jacob Frye, a London-based assassin. The plot will possibly revolve around politics, intrigue, and mystery that surrounded the early days of the United Kingdom.

Possible new gameplay additions, all of which you can view from the Kotaku video, include battles atop a stagecoach, as well as the use of a handy grappling hook for more precise aerial stunts. Expect the game to run on Unity's revolutionary Anvil engine.
