China Smartphone Market Registers Dismal Figures For The First Time In Six Years

Looks like the Chinese economy is really in a bad shape as the smartphone market in the country fell for the first time in the last six years, spiking fears of being hit by the recessionary wave.

According to reports on 247Wallst, the smartphone market in China has registered a massive fall that comes across as a shock because it is for the first time that the incident has occurred in the last six years. The news indicates that the smartphone sales in China dropped in the first quarter with the numbers being much lower than what was registered for the same period in the last quarter. The figures are quite a shocker since China is one of the biggest markets for smartphone users in the world making it a heaven for the technology companies. Just last year, China's base of Wi-Fi users grew to 750 million raising hopes for the smartphone companies.

However, when a recent research pointed out at a slump of 4.3 percent in the number of smartphone units being shipped into the country, it came across as a major surprise. The reports were released by International Data Corporation (IDC), a leading market intelligence firm, on Monday. While the report mentioned the losers, it also said that Apple continued to rein in the market, indicating that the Chinese appetite for large screens and state of the art technology was still going strong.

The report on China Daily said that market analysts are blaming saturation as one of the key factors for the recent slowdown in the smartphone market. Therefore, the first and foremost need of the smartphone companies will be to look for innovative options to please the customers. In simple terms, the companies will now work out new ways to attract more customers. The analysts are also saying that the increased number of options could actually be causing the wavering of customer loyalty.
