Art Exhibit And Painting --- The Other Side Of Sylvester Stallone

Who would have imagined Sylvester Stallone a.k.a. "Rambo" holding a paintbrush rather than a powerful assault weapon? Or Rocky Balboa painting on canvas rather than smashing the face of his nemesis and knocking him down to the canvas of the boxing ring?

For those in the know about the celluloid world, one would certainly get a hint that we are referring to that actor who played two famous characters on film, Rocky and Rambo and its installments during the Reaganite era. Sylvester Stallone, who's got a new film titled, "Expendables" starring alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, is now ready to expose his painting talent.

Sylvester Stallone, who has apparently been painting for nearly 50 years even before he started acting, will be holding his latest and third painting exhibition this Saturday, May 16 at Nice's Musee d' Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporaine in France. His first exhibition was held in Switzerland in 2011 and his second show was in The State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Sylvester Stallone's painting themes are usually about chaos, triumph, failure and the like in what observers describe as abstract expressionism. Some of his paintings like "Finding Rambo" are inspired by his early films.

Most of his paintings are visually eclectic that use strong and vivid colours that hint at the style of the late Andy Warhol portraits and Julian Schnabel's neo-expressionism. Sylvester Stallone's other works take inspiration from other famous stars like Michael Jackson, James Dean or his ex-wife Bridget Nielsen.

Aside from Sylvester Stallone, other celebrities who have taken up the brush and paint are Bob Dylan, who now exhibits paintings and sculptures regularly, the late Frank Sinatra, Beatle Paul McCartney, and Disco Diva Donna Summer. Even the late Christopher Jones, a heartthrob in the 60s who quit stardom and devoted his life to visual art until his death, painted during his leisure time.
