X-Ray Shows an 8-year-old Boy Smuggled inside a Suitcase from Morocco to Spain

An 8-year old Ivory Coast boy from Morocco is smuggled by a 19-year old woman who placed him inside a suitcase from Morocco into Ceuta going to Spain. On May 7, Thursday, the boy was discovered by Spanish police after it passes on the X-ray machine.

The woman was found bringing the suitcase where the boy named Abou was hidden inside. According to a Guardia Civil spokesman, the boy was in a "terrible state" because of the long trip and difficult position in the case, according to Daily Mail.

Based on the investigation, the woman and the boy are not related. The woman is being paid to carry the suitcase by the boy's father who also named, Abou. The father who lives in the Canary Island wants to be reunited with his child again.

In 2013, the boy's father moved to Gran Canaria and travelled back to Ivory Coast in the border an hour-and-half to fetch his son. Based on the report, the woman seems to be nervous while carrying her suitcase as if she fears to come closer to the border. At first, authorities thought that she might be carrying some drugs on her suitcase but X-ray revealed that the suitcase has a human body.

On May 8, Friday, reports from United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said that there is an estimated 25,000 Rohingyas and Bangladeshis boarded boats of people-smugglers in the first three months of year 2015 which doubles the number from 2014.

Based on the reports gathered by Reuters, UNHCR said, "Based on survivor accounts, we estimate that 300 people died at sea in the first quarter of 2015 as a result of starvation, dehydration and abuse by boat crews."

The growing poverty in the places mentioned above causes the increase of people smuggling in the nearby countries.
