Mariah Carey recently cancelled her Las Vegas show, a week after she started her residency in the state due to bronchitis.

On Wednesday night, fans were disappointed when they saw a sign saying that the show, where the 45-year old singer performs 18 of her greatest hits, was cancelled.

As reported by TMZ, Carey is suffering from bronchitis and her doctors think it is best that she temporarily stop singing for a speedy recovery. Fortunately, only Wednesday's show is cancelled, as Carey has a few days to rest and recover from bronchitis before her next concert.

Earlier this year, the diva confirmed that she will be headlining the Colosseum at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas and has gotten fans excited when she announced that she will be performing her 18 greatest hits.

In a previously recorded interview on Ellen DeGeneres' talk-variety show, she announced, "I am going to do my first ever residency in Vegas at Caesars," and added that the event is something really special for her.

She continued to say that she hopes fans will enjoy her show, which was inspired by her "Number 1's" album.

Carey, who has twins Moroccan and Monroe, 3 with soon-to-be ex-husband comedian Nick Cannon, admitted that she's hoping fans will love hearing her older hits live.

Ellen Degeneres herself helped promote Carey's residency and said, "18 number one hits. 18 number ones!"

While the gorgeous pop star did not disclose how much she will earn from the deal, various news sources reported that she will be receiving an amount much higher than the US $30 million Britney Spears was paid for her two-year residency.

Carey, is also reportedly stepping in for Celine Dion, who temporarily cancelled her shows at the Caesars Palace in August last year to care for husband René Angélli who underwent a surgery in December of 2013 for throat cancer. Dion was reported to have informed the venue that she would not be resuming her residency until the latter part of 2015.
