Leaked Info Confirms New Xiaomi Redmi Smartphone

Leaked information coming from Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi shows that the company is working on a new device for its Redmi series. Known only as Xiaomi H3Y or Hermes, the devices show a promising set of hardware specs.

According to GSM Arena, the Xiaomi H3Y was initially confused as the upcoming Redmi Note 2. However, the recent leak has revealed that the Redmi Note 2 is codenamed H3X and the device codenamed H3Y points to the larger Redmi Note 2 Pro.

First off, the upcoming smartphone is rumored to have a 1920 x 1080 full HD resolution which is an upgrade to its predecessor's 720p max display resolution. Industry analysts are also expecting Xiaomi to upgrade the 4.7-inch touchscreen display in order to provide a superior viewing experience.

At the heart of Xiaomi H3Y lurks the powerful Helio X10 processor from MediaTek. It is an octa-core Cortex A53 processor clocked at 2.2 GHz. This extreme processor speed is backed by a 2 gigabyte LPDDR3 RAM.

Another interesting addition to the Xiaomi H3Y is the Isocell image sensor from Samsung. According to Android Authority, Xiaomi's is the first third-party manufacturer to integrate the in-house camera technology developed by Samsung. Addtionally, Xiaomi H3Y has a 13 megapixel rear facing camera and a 5 megapixel front facing camera, both having OmniVision sensor.

Additional reports speculate that the Xiaomi H3Y will sport a metallic body as well as dual-SIM feature.

According to International Business Times, the new smartphone from Xiaomi will run on the company's own MIUI 6 operating system which is based on either Android 5.0 or Android 5.1 Lollipop. The report added that once the device is released, it could fetch price of up to 1,500 Chinese Yuan which is equivalent to around 245 United States dollar.

Official time frame for release of the device has yet to surface. On the other hand, Xiaomi has not confirmed whether these leaks and rumors are true.
