A new mom who gave birth via cesarean section went back to the hospital days after she gave birth on complaints of cramps, and doctors found what they never should have: a mobile.

The U.K. Mirror reported that Jordanian woman Hanan Mahmoud Abdul Karim went for a C-section on April 24 but experienced pain in her abdomen after the surgery. The 36-year-old's family also said they noticed that her abdomen was seemingly vibrating when they got home.

The excitement of Hanan after giving birth to a 10-pound baby boy was cut short when the pain continued and her mother had forced her to seek medical attention. “My daughter suffered serious pains and could not move. I brought her back to the hospital where she was treated but nothing was done for her,” the mother said, according to the report citing an interview with Gulf News Jordan.

X-rays done of Hanan at the Al Bashir public hospital revealed that Hanan's Gynecologist left his mobile phone on her abdomen. Understandably, some were outraged with the incident at the public hospital.

Jordan Parliament member Salim Al Bataynah even urged the government to resign.

"The parliament should show responsibility and be on the level of the case," Al Bataynah said.

However, Jordanian Health Ministry spokesman Hatem Al Azrae was reportedly quoted as saying that the incident was a hoax but that the ministry has launched an investigation of the case, according to the Gulf News.

It is unclear if the new mom will press charges against the doctor or the hospital.

Unfortunately, medical mishaps like this are increasing. Healthcare IT News data showed that preventable medical errors is the third most common reasons for deaths in the U.S. The report added that nearly half a million people die from medical mistakes are recorded annually.
