Most notable of the Lizard Squad attack was when the group took down both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live service on Christmas 2014 which led to a massive user outburst on both services.

The group posted on their Twitter account, "Our Lizards are currently planning the next step in our crusade. Stay tuned."

The online service outage has bugged several players during the weekend with some claiming that they are completely unable to access their online account. The official PlayStation Support group shared on their Twitter account that customers experiencing the problem should try to restart their console in order to fix it, according to Express. However, despite doing the recommended steps many gamers are still complaining that it did not remedy the issue.

GameSpot reported that some gamers trying to login on their online account received a message from Sony urging them to update their password. The attack did not only took down the PlayStation Network but several other services offered by Sony. During the course of the attack, several reports said that PlayStation Store and PlayStation Vue were taken down. Others claim that the option to create new accounts were also down.

According to Forbes, despite the fact that Lizard Squad is claiming full accountability of the attack, there is no direct evidence that points to the group being responsible for it. The report added that the PlayStation Network sometime breaks down on its own due to excessive traffic and unscheduled maintenance.

Sony has acknowledged the attack and has been working to put their service back online. Additionally, the company has not yet admitted the real cause of the temporary outage of its service.
