The video begins where Swift and Gomez battle it out with several bad guys. Swift plays the role of Catastrophe who was taken by surprise when her partner Arsyn (played by Gomez) betrayed her and kick her off a building.

According to Swift the theme of the song is based on an argument she had with a fellow popular singer regarding their back-up dancers. Rumors are pointing to Katy Perry as the other party; however, unfortunately, Swift would not confirm if such rumors are true.

"Bad Blood," which is fourth single under her latest album 1989, is certainly a sci-fi video that shows plenty of beautiful women and high tech gadgets, accompanied by raps from Kendrick Lamar.

As Swift falls down from the building and lands on top of a car, she begins to sing her song. She is then teleported to an underground clinical facility, lying on a bed wearing a costume reminiscent of the sci-fi movie "Fifth Element."  Later, Swift recovers from her wounds, suits up and tours the facility. Swift and Alba race each other using motorbikes similarly used in Tron.  "Headmistress" Crawford appears for a few seconds to meet Swift and the finale of the video is accompanied by huge explosions with Catastrophe and Arsyn meet for a showdown.

This is certainly the first time that Swift has used high tech gadgets and deadly weaponry in her video but is certainly not the last, since Swift is seen as one of the last pop megastars still around.
