NBA Playoffs: Golden State Warriors Are Favored to Win 2015 NBA Finals

It's easy to see that right now the Golden State Warriors are primed to win their first-ever NBA title since 1975. Historically and statistically speaking, all parameters point at the Steph Curry-led team to go all the way this season.

First let's take a look at Vegas. According to ESPN's David Purdum, the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook indicated that "the Warriors are 4-7 favorites to win" the 2015 NBA title. The Cleveland Cavaliers follow at 5-2, then the Atlanta Haws at 8-1, and lastly, the Houston Rockets at 12-1.

In terms of history and statistics, the present Warriors coached by Steve Kerr are not just the best team in the league right now, but they are actually one of the greatest basketball teams of all time. As early as January, they were on pace to become one of the best teams ever, as per Jesus Gomez of SB Nation.

Their 67-15 regular season record is tied with several other teams for the sixth best record in the history of the NBA. Only ten teams have finished 67-15 or better, including the Warriors, and seven of them have went on to claim the NBA title. (Source: Land of Basketball)

Their 10.1 ppg margin of victory this season is eight highest in NBA history, and six of the top seven all went on to win the NBA championship. For the season, the Los Angeles Clippers came a far second at 3.51 ppg.

The Warriors are the runaway best team in the league this season, winning seven more games than the second-running Hawks. They are almost unbeaten at home (39-2) and the best team on the road (28-13). Their 10.1 ppg point differential escalates to 14.5 ppg when they are at the Oracle Arena.

For any team to triumph over the Warriors this post-season, they have to at least win one or two games in the Oracle, which seems highly unlikely.

History and all stats point to Golden State as the team to beat in this year's playoffs. The Vegas odds makers tell it as well. It's now up to the Warriors to prove them right and claim their rightful place as one of the game's greatest teams.
