Busted: Dutch DJ Martin Garrix Caught by Netizens Faking a Photo

Dutch DJ Martin Garrix, one of the top DJs in the world, drew flak from netizens after posting a photo "grabbed" from another user.

On Sunday, Garrix posted a photo of a beautiful sunset in Manila on the backdrop of trees and huts. He captioned it with "Amazing sunset in Manila last night... I love it here! Kuala Lumpur it is tonight, last show before heading back to europe and then New York next week for EDC #KLLive."

Garrix, best known for his track "Animals," was in Manila on Sunday to headline the Closeup Forever Summer 2015 concert held at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.

However, it was revealed that the photo wasn't his and was originally taken two weeks ago by Christine Siy, a Filipino. The photo was a view from the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila. The two photos are very similar with Garrix only putting a filter.

"Oh, how Instagram brings out the posers in all of us. Apparently, Martin Garrix isn't an exception. Whaddup dude, why you snooping around my sister's Instagram? [Note that my sister didn't even put hashtags in the caption so I have no idea how he "grabbed" the pic.] I don't know if ther are rules in "grabbing" pics in social media, but this was such a stupid move," Celine Ocampo Siy, Christine's sister, posted on Facebook.

The "photo grabbing" went viral after a very influential Twitter user, Senyora Santibañez, tweeted the comparison between Siy and Garrix' photos on Monday night. Santibañez' loyal followers immediately flocked to the DJ's instagram post.

After a few minutes, Garrix updated the caption and credited Siy. "Beautiful photo, I love it here! Kuala Lumpur it is tonight, last show before heading back to europe and then New York next week for EDC #KLLive. Photo credit @christine_siy"

After more or less an hour, Garrix ultimately deleted his Instagram post and has not yet issued a statement about the incident.

Garrix is a popular DJ among fans of electronic dance music (EDM) genre with songs that topped music charts in various countries. He recently released his "Don't Look Down" track featuring Usher on iTunes.
