Chris Pine will portray Steve Trevor, the love interest of the titular character in "Wonder Woman."

Rumors have been flying around that Scott Eastwood would play the abovementioned love interest. However, after being asked to choose between an audition for the leading man role and a small but sure role in "Suicide Squad," Variety reports that Eastwood chose the supporting role instead.

Chirs Pine, whose latest movies include "Into The Woods" and the two more current "Star Trek" movies, seems perfect for the part, and Geek Tyrant notes that it will be interesting to see how the actor interacts with Gal Gadot.

Gal Gadot has been casted as Wonder Woman for quite some time now, whose character is slated to appear first in the upcoming "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie. Henry Cavill is set to reprise his role as Superman while Ben Affleck will portray the Caped Crusader.

The comics portrays Steve Trevor as a soldier who Diana nurses back to health after crash landing in Paradise Island. When they return to the outside world, Diana then donned the moniker Diana Prince as well as her alter ego, "Wonder Woman."

Warner Bros. gave no comment on the casting of the actor as narrated by The Hollywood Reporter, but there are rumors that Steve Trevor might appear in the movie "Suicide Squad" to solidify the movie tie-ins of all DC movies. The Batmobile was already seen roaming around the set of "Suicide," chasing The Joker and Harley Quinn as played by Jared Leto and Margot Robbie respectively. This alone is enough evidence that the other DC superheroes can do their cameos in different upcoming films.

The female superhero movie will be helmed by Patty Jenkins after Michelle MacLaren exited production. Jason Fuchs penned the script, and the movie is slated to hit theaters on June 23, 2017.
