In a bid to address the growing concerns of users, with regards to the security of their profile, Facebook has confirmed the introduction of a new security feature for accounts starting today.
Social networking giant, Facebook, has announced the introduction of a new feature that will make it easier for users to secure their profile on the portal. The new feature is being called Security Checkup as it is confirmed in a report filed by Fortune. As of now, this new feature is available across selected accounts; however, the plan to roll it out gradually across the entire network is already in the pipeline.

Another report on Engadget confirms that the feature is already in a testing phase. But, this is not the first tweak that Facebook has made to improve the account security of its members. In fact, this is one of the many tweaks that have been introduced in the last couple of years.
Giving details on the new feature, Engadget pointed out that it will guide users through the basic steps. This will involve keeping an eye on important details like updating your password, turning on the login notification and other such nuances. Even clearing previous login sessions will become easier with this new feature. It is believed that watching out for such things will automatically minimize the risk of the account being hacked. It is noteworthy to point out that this security check up is quite similar to the Privacy Checkup that Facebook is already following.
As per the details given by Facebook, the new Security Checkup is designed as an improvement over the Privacy Checkup feature. Based on the feedback that the feature received during the testing phase, it will introduce the option across all accounts.
The news came to light via Facebook itself in a status posted by Melissa Luu-Van, Site Integrity Product Manager at the company. The core purpose of the new feature is to help people keep an eye on their account and detect any suspicious activity more easily.
