Reboots are currently the in thing for both TV and movies, even "Scream" did not escape the trend. MTV is rebooting the cult classic, and apparently they are giving Ghostface an overhaul and is seen on the new trailer.

The reboot is worlds-different from the original franchise, since as Coming Soon reports, they disregard continuity and opt for a new town, a new generation, and of course, a new mask dubbed as Ghostface. Another difference is that this Ghostface is tech-savvy, and uses iMessage to deliver his points to his victims.

The trailer shows how the TV series will start off: MTV reports that after the death of Nina Patterson played by the svelte Bella Thorne, a group of teens are terrorized by a knife-wielding predator. As the series goes on, the teens get to experience the killer's deadly games, eventually connecting that first death to the even deadlier part of the town, allowing paranoia to then sink in.

The original 1996 horror thriller was a big hit because it combined comedy with mystery, choosing to make fun of the different clichés of the preceding horror movies before it, and how the supposed killer were lifted from these classics. From the trailer alone the TV series seem to follow this meta-horror genre, wherein it knows that people are questioning how a horror movie can be turned into a series. It still unknown if any of the former stars of the original franchise will openly reprise their roles for the small screen reboot, but sure enough if that happens "Scream" fans will enjoy watching the show.

Set to premiere on June 30, Geek Tyrant reports that the pilot was directed by Jamie Travis, and will star Willa Fitzgerald, John Karna, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Amadeus Serafini, and Connor Weil, with Bella Thorne doing a cameo at the beginning of the film. Fans are not really expecting much, but then again, fans have been wrong about reboots before, so why not give this one the benefit of the doubt, and tune in to MTV when it airs its pilot.
