A conveyor manufacturer in China is planning to partner with Kawasaki Heavy Industries Co, Japan's leading robot maker.

Earlier this month, Kawasaki Heavy revealed its intention of entering into a joint business venture with a company based in Chongqing. Kawasaki Heavy spokesman Yoshiyuki Inugasa, who made the announcement, kept the name of the company a secret. Nonetheless, reports indicate that Kawasaki will have more than 50 percent of the total stake of the new venture.

According to Shanghai Daily, this collaboration is bound to increase sales of Kawasaki Heavy and the conveyor maker from China because both companies will provide efficient welding and painting lines for auto manufacturers in the country. In addition, the two companies reportedly intend to produce industrial robots sometime in the future.

Kawasaki Heavy has announced that it will open its own factory this June in Jiangsu Province. The company's objective is to increase its overall sales of industrial robots in the country by up to four times by 2020. The company expects to earn as much as 45 billion yen (US$362 million) from doing this.

International Business Times reported that in 2014, a quarter of the world's industrial robots purchases were made by China. China's Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Mao Weiming, reported that sales reached up to 57,000 last year.

According to Want China Times, the country has been importing components needed to produce robots like servomotors, controllers, servo drives, and decelerators. This is because China is slow in upgrading automation which prevents domestic robots production.

Beijing is already preparing to host the 2015 World Robot Conference on November 23-25. The conference is reportedly being sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology together with China Association for Science and Technology. The conference will showcase an exhibit, conduct forums, and a robot competition open to teenagers around the world. It will also be attended by resource persons from China, Japan, Germany, and the US. These experts will be reporting on topics related to robotics including research and technology development as well as the latest products.
