Chris Bosh officially signed Wednesday a five-year contract worth US$ 118 million with the Miami Heat after becoming a free agent for the franchise earlier this month.
Heat president Pat Riley expresses confidence after re-signing Bosh that Miami will remain competitive in the Eastern Conference even after the departure of MVP LeBron James.

Riley said Bosh is one of the most versatile big men in the league. Bosh's "unique skill set makes him one of the best players in the game today," continued Riley in a statement.
After James opted out of his remaining two-year contract with the Heat, fellow "Big Three" players, Dwayne Wade and Bosh also opted for free agency.
Both Wade and Bosh signed new contracts with the Heat, while James returned to his hometown in Akron, Ohio and signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Bosh, 30, was initially thought to be heading to the Houston Rockets for a four-year deal worth US$ 88 million joining James Harden and Dwight Howard but Miami was able to counter the offer when James left for Cleveland that left quite a bit of space in their salary cap which persuaded Bosh to remain in Miami.
Bosh has a career average of 19.2 points and 8.7 rebounds per game playing seven seasons with the Toronto Raptors and four years with Miami. He averaged 16.2 points and 6.6 rebounds last season.
Miami has now completed its 12-man roster for next season who also signed Luol Deng to a two-year, US$ 20 million contract Tuesday.
The team also acquired power forward Josh McRoberts whom Riley speaks highly of as well as James Ellis who was one of the team's stand-out during the 2014 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
