Allison Williams expressed her gladness about the news, stating that she has wanted to play Peter Pan since she was three years old. "...this is a dream come true," the actress said.

To the actress, it was an honor to be a part of the adventure-filled production and she also expressed her excitement to play the part and work with a talented team.

Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who produced the live musical version of 'The Sound of Music,' are also producing 'Pan'.

The two producers deemed Allison Williams as a 'major find,' putting their confidence in the actress to reinvent the iconic character of Peter Pan. They've also commended Allison Williams for her wit, charm and musical abilities.

NBC aired another version of 'Pan' in 1955 starring Mary Martin as Peter Pan alongside actor Cyril Ritchard who played the role of the Neverland boy's rival, Captain Hook.

The 26-year old actress also posted a throwback photo of herself wearing a Peter Pan costume through her Instagram account. "Thrilled to be playing Peter Pan live on NBC in December. I've been rehearsing for a REALLY long time," Allison jested.

Alongside Allison Williams, veteran actor Christopher Walken, who starred in the 2007 revival of 'Hairspray,' will play the role of Captain Hook.

Meanwhile, NBC has also purchased rights to 'The Music Man' and the network is planning to air the production in 2015.

'Pan' is scheduled to air on December 4 of this year on NBC.
