After around a month of heavy anticipation and rumor-mongering, it has been reported that the new Peter Parker will not be Asa Butterfield.

Despite the rumors going around that Asa Butterfield will be the next Spider-Man, the 18-year old actor will not be donning the red and blue Spider-suit anytime soon. Heroic Hollywood mentioned in a report that there were only three names left vying for the role of Peter Parker, and unfortunately the "Ender's Game" star is not one of those names. Some might say that he was left out of the shortlist after going onto Reddit and confirming that he was in talks to land the role, but no official statement has been released.

There are still three names up for the role, namely Tom Holland, Charlie Plummer, and Matthew Lintz. Unfortunately, one of the biggest hindrances to give the project a green light is the creative differences of the two studios. Geek Tyrant reports that Marvel wants to cast Plummer, while Holland is preferred by Sony. Sooner or later the two studios will need to compromise since shooting for the Webhead's first appearance in "Captain America: Civil War" will start this July.

Reportedly, this conflict is still up in arms because as Screen Rant suggests, despite Marvel being the creative lead for the movie, Sony wants an actor whom they can take back to his own universe and do a standalone movie, or three. Marvel on the other hand, wants someone that they are comfortable with, who they know will fit in with their already present line up of superheroes.

Of course, everything can still change it course and the two can choose the wild card Matthew Lintz as a compromise, or they can also return back to their original top choice of Asa Butterfield. Until shooting starts nothing is official, and whether or not this is the third or thirtieth Spider-Man adaptation, fans will surely line up to see what Sony has to offer.
