The promotional animation video of Assassin’s Creed Unity is full of blood and lots of beheadings -- too full of blood and beheadings.

The four-minute promotional video was released over the weekend and first shown during the San Diego Comic-Con 2014. It shows a historical backdrop for the upcoming stealth sequel that follows a secretive assassins' guild during the French Revolution.

Ubisoft Entertainment, the multinational video game developer and publisher behind Assassin's Creed, assigned horror director Rob Zombie and Tony Moore, Walking Dead artist, to create the promotional animation for Assassin’s Creed Unity.

The promotional video shows events that led to the French Revolution. It displays the ruinous wars; aristocrats feasting; the poor, starving; the creation of the French National Assembly and the storming of the Bastile.

There are also tons of beheadings of characters. The blood-splattered horror is relentless.

Expect a full blast of blood spewing forth from the game.

The promotional video ends with the guillotine execution of Maximilien Robespierre as an assassin and Assassin's Creed Unity lead protagonist, Arno Dorian.

The video was designed to appeal to the Comic-Con audience. Despite this, the trailer quickly gained notoriety at Comic-Con.

Assassin's Creed is no horror at all. It revolves around bloody historical conflicts like the Crusades.

The promotional video, however, shows bloody eyes being stabbed and other gruesome scence that are all too familiar in some of the movies made by Rob Zombie such as The Devil’s Rejects.

Ubisoft aimed to bring to life the gory details, bloody battles, and horrifying events during the French Revolution.

Assassin's Creed Unity is considered a more interesting concept than regular video game trailers. It has explosions, high resolution “in-game” footage and deep-voiced man that tells viewers to pre-order.
