The Real Madrid Legends have defeated the Liverpool Legends with a 4-2 score line in the 2015 Corazon Classic Charity Match. The event took place at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Sunday, June 14. Both European powerhouse teams fielded squads composed of some of the most iconic players who donned their kits from the late 80's to as recently as a few years ago.

Having 15 European titles between them, Spain's Real Madrid FC and England's Liverpool FC are two of the biggest names in European football. This year's Corazon Classic Match featured players whose names are respected and adored all over the world.

Some of the most notable participants in the charity match are those who suited up for both the teams during their time as professional players. Michael Owen, Fernando Morientes, Steve McManaman and Jerzy Dudek all played for both Real Madrid and Liverpool. They did the same during Corazon Clasico and switched between the red and the white kits halfway through the game.

Brazil's Roberto Carlos and Former French Captain Zinedine Zidane were both members of Real's "Galacticos" team of the 2000s. They were both met with thunderous applause and standing ovations upon their return to the Bernabeu pitch. Roberto Carlos in particular, proved his worth as he scored two goals from the spot.

It was Liverpool however, who drew first blood.  On the 18th minute, Harry Kewell was finally able to convert one of Jason McAteer's dangerous crosses. He scored with a header and put Liverpool ahead. Just three minutes later, Michael Owen, who wore the red kit for the first half of the game, chalked up another goal for Liverpool.

The host side was down by two goals when a handball by Steve Harkness gave Roberto Carlos an opportunity to score from the penalty spot. Dudek was unable to stop the Brazilian and Los Merengues were able to pull one back.

In the second half, Real Madrid equalized after Jamie Carragher made another Liverpool handball. Roberto Carlos stepped up once again and converted easily from the spot. Things turned around from this point and Real Madrid took advantage of the momentum.

The 67th minute saw the hosts drilling the proverbial nail into the visitors' coffin. Real Madrid's Jose Emilio Amavisco deflected a shot off Liverpool's Abel Xavier to put the whites ahead. Ivan Perez sealed the deal with a close-range goal that looked to be offside. It was called good and the visitors never managed to regain the lead.

The star studded event is a yearly charity game hosted by the Real Madrid Legends. A different rival team is chosen each year. According to the Real Madrid website, proceeds from the match will be used to benefit the Spanish Red Cross and its "Promoting Educational Success Program."

Over 20,000 school children will receive new shoes and knapsacks for the upcoming school year courtesy of the Real Madrid Foundation, the Red Cross, laSexta Channel and EL Corte Ingles.
