Two massive Alaska wildfires resulted in the devastation of several homes, forcing evacuations of residents. One of the Alaska wildfires is on a woodland area beside a road.

That blaze, reported Sunday afternoon, have wrought devastation to 2 acres Sunday, but by Monday it has quickly spread to more than 10 square acres, according to officials.

Affected areas include the Matanuska-Susitna Borough's brush around Willow. The Borough is located around 40 miles from Anchorage.

As of the moment, the wildfire is in the process of being put out by fire crews. The huge blaze is hard to stop as it is fuelled in particular by high temperatures as well as unpredictable winds, according to The Guardian.

On Monday, people have started offering their homes to dozens of displaced residents and their pets. Officials said the fire has not been contained and it is expected to continue as weather conditions continue to be warm and dry.

As the blaze is being tackled near Willow, which is north of Anchorage, around 45 homes, including sheds and outhouses, have already been destroyed.

1,700 have already evacuated voluntarily due to the Alaska wildfire. Tim Mowry, a fire information spokesman, said 210 residents have signed into Houston evacuation centers.

Gov. Bill Walker reportedly surveyed the Alaskan wildfire area Monday via an aerial tour. Walker said later that he has accepted the request of Matanuska-Susitna Borough for state disaster declaration.

According to The Associated Press, the evacuation response in lieu of the Alaska wildfires had been swift and strong due to it being within close proximity to homes, reported The Associated Press.

Nearly 200 firefighters have gone to the site of the fire. Tankers have started unloading retardants while helicopters also started dropping tons of water. Since Sunday afternoon, fire crews have gone over 6,500 acres of the fire, but more is reportedly expected.

137 miles south of Anchorage, another much smaller wildfire is being fought by fire crews. Though small, the blaze is equally dangerous as it has threatened nearly 200 homes already, according to Reuters.

On Monday night firefighting teams from 48 states as well as Canada are scheduled to assist with the fire.

The specific cause of the larger fire is still being identified, but investigators say it was from human activity. The blaze is accelerating due to the extremely dry weather.
