Before she was Catwoman, she was Princess Mia. Will this be enough to bring back Anne Hathaway to the franchise that propelled her to stardom?

"Princess Diaries 3" is reportedly in the works with Disney, and CNN reports that fans of the first two movies are firing off through different social media sites. Despite the apparent hype, there is no official word from the House of Mouse, nor are there any announcements regarding cast.

"Princess Diaries" first premiered in 2001, where Anne Hathaway played Mia Thermopolis, a teenager who discovers that she has a Prince for a father, and she is heir to the throne. The Queen, Hollywood icon Julie Andrews plays her grandmother, Queen Clarisse Renaldi, who tutors her on how to be royalty. The 2004 sequel, "Princess Diaries 2," brought in "Star Trek" star Chris Pine as the love interest of Princess Mia and subsequent rival to the throne.

Anne Hathaway has come a long way from her "Princess Diaries" days. Hollywood Life reports that the "Les Miserables" star denies being included in the third movie, which has apparently been in the works for years now. She also said that she worked very hard to erase the stereotype that the franchise brought upon her, which admittedly, did work for her, gaining her an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2013 for "Les Mis." Julie Andrews, on the other hand, is quite open to returning to a third movie, but is reluctant that Disney will not push through because of Hathaway's decision.

However, there are reports that the third movie is a supposed reboot of the original. Huffington Post brings up the fact that the first two movies are based on the book series by Meg Cabot, and since then there are nine volumes, various half volumes, and the recently-released adult installment of the series. Disney has a lot of material to work with, so rebooting is not that bad of an idea.

Whether Disney plans to reboot the entire franchise or to bring back the old reliable actors from the early 2000's, Disney will tap into a lot of nostalgic memories when they do decide to green light this project, and by the looks of the initial reaction of the fans, it will be a sure-fire hit.
