Far from competing against the best of the best in the smartphone war, Microsoft's Lumia 640 nevertheless possesses excellent features for those looking for simple yet affordable and functional phones. The 640 is one of the first Lumia phones released by Microsoft after its acquisition of Nokia a few years back.

User Friendly

Like all Microsoft smartphones, the Lumia 640 boasts excellent compatibility with Windows desktop devices. This makes it easier to store captured photos and videos on hard drives. Moreover, Lumia users even get a one-year subscription to Office 365 Personal for both the smartphone and desktop devices.

Well-Designed

Trusted Reviews reports that the Lumia 640 is practically indistinguishable from the 630 and 635, both of which were released by Nokia. What sets the new model apart however, is its plastic back cover, which offers the phone a sleek new look and a fresher feel.

Comfortable

At 5 inches, the Lumia 640's screen is now taller and wider, but it's also much slimmer than previous models, being only 8.8mm thick. The plastic back cover and the Gorilla Glass screen cover makes this phone quite easy to grip and use.

Powerful Hardware

The Lumia 640 boasts a 720p screen with a booming 294 ppi. It also comes with a quad-core snapdragon processor that runs at 1.2 GHz. Moreover, it also contains 1GB of RAM and a total of 8GB internal storage capacity.

Solid Camera Quality

The phone comes with an 8 megapixel camera fixed on the back. According to a review by SlashGear, the camera does wonders in bright sunlight, but its photo quality is much less desirable in darkened places.

Resilient Battery

Lumia 640 also performs admirably in terms of battery life. The phone can run for up to an entire day without the need for charging, thanks to its low density display. Even when the user is browsing the net, checking emails, or hanging around social media sites, the 640 will hold out well until the next day.

Verdict

All-in-all, this device is for people with an inclination for function more than flash. While it has relatively unimpressive camera quality and design, the Lumia 640 has enough power for entire hours of calls, app access, and web browsing. With a price tag of $130, it definitely has a lot of value for the cost.
