In a statement released by Paramount Pictures, The Celebrity Cafe quoted Zhang, describing the collaboration as a very special opportunity. She further stated that she looks forward to the day when people will hear the song. "Fighting Shadows" will be available for download on iTunes beginning June 30, a day before the premiere of "Terminator Genisys." Sony will digitally release the song in Asia while Def Jam Recordings, Big Sean's record label, will make the worldwide distribution.

Big Sean admitted to being a huge fan of the "Terminator" franchise since he was young and expressed an exceptional enthusiasm to be part of the latest installment. He also remarked at having a great experience working with Zhang, Idolator cited.

According to Eurweb, Zhang rose to fame following her runner-up stint at Super Girl, China's nationwide all-girl singing contest, in 2005. She soon recorded her debut album entitled "The One," which was produced by Craig Williams, who also discovered the R&B singer R. Kelly. Zhang veered away from the Chinese pop formula and experimented on jazz and R&B with her second album "Update." The singer was also part of a World Peace One concert that featured top musicians from all over the world, including Madonna, U2, and Pink Floyd. Recently, she worked on two hit songs for the mainland TV series "Empress of China" starring Fan Bingbing.

Big Sean is an American rapper from Detroit who has been making a name for himself since Kanye West signed him to GOOD Music in the early 2000s. Among his collaborations were the biggest names in the hip-hop industry, including Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Wiz Khalifa. His relationships had also been subject of media attention, notably with "Glee" star Naya Rivera, whom he was engaged with until April 2014. Six months later, he and Ariana Grande began dating but ended the relationship eight months since.
