Shawn "Showtime" Porter outpointed over-hyped Floyd Mayweather protégée Adrien "The Problem" Broner to fashion out a 12-round unanimous decision victory in their non-title welterweight bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, June 20.

Fighting at a catch weight of 144 pounds, all three judges scored it in favor of Porter (26-1-1, 16 KOs), 118-108, 115-111, and 114-112, as per ESPN.

Broner (30-2, 22 KOs) succumbed to the second loss of his career as he could not solve the intense pressure created by his opponent all throughout the fight.

Porter managed to control the flow and pace of the fight, successfully lunging with his jabs from the outside and mixing it up with Broner on the inside, as reported by Bleacher Report.

The Mayweather apprentice seemed lost whenever the former IBF welterweight champ attacked as he excessively tried clinching, shoving and fouling his rival, much like what the pay-per-view king did with Manny Pacquiao during their May 2nd bout.

However, Broner's evasive tactics were nowhere near as effective as Mayweather's over the PacMan. Porter was aggressive enough to find the body and the head with every clinch, making it clear that Broner's game plan is not going to prove useful.

By keeping himself busy, Showtime got the nod of the judges and the referee as Broner looked like stalling the fight as it progressed on. It was evident that The Problem's weakness continues to be against opponents who possess an assertive and brawling style, ala-Marcos Maidana who dealt him of his first defeat.

According to Boxing News 24, this second loss of The Problem will take a toll on his career. He had never proven himself against quality opponents, which would continue to taint his self-made elite-fighter image.

A curious trivia about the two fighters is that they are both 5-foot-7 tall, from Ohio, and former welterweight champions, but the Akron native clearly came out on top of the Cincinnati local.

They were also both aware that Porter was leading in all scorecards entering the final round, and so Broner tried to slug his way for a knockout and actually floored Showtime in the opening minute of the 12th.

But Porter was in great condition and managed to survive the remaining two minutes for the UD win.
