NBA Trade Rumors: Suns Offer Eric Bledsoe, 13th Pick To Knicks For 4th Pick

The Phoenix Suns are reportedly talking with the New York Knicks to trade their 13th pick for the latter's 4th pick with starting point guard Eric Bledsoe as the key component.

Sporting News' Sean Deveney reported that the Suns would continue to dangle Bledsoe to willing teams even if the deal would not be materialized by draft night.

The move is curious considering that the 25-year-old playmaker is still entering the prime of his basketball career and the Suns had just signed him for a five-year, $70 million contract before trading away two potential All-Star point guards in Goran Dragic and Isaiah Thomas last year.

Bledsoe, on the other hand, is already an All-Star caliber point guard. He averaged 17 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.1 assists despite playing in a loaded backcourt for Phoenix during the first half of last season. He is a strong guard who rebounds well and is an asset on defense.

The Suns seems to be pushing the reset button quite early as they are trying to completely do away with their three-guard combo of Bledsoe, Dragic, and Thomas who had given them surprising success during the 2013-2014 season.

CBS Sports' Matt Moore said that the Phoenix front office may not like the possibility of being stuck in the middle of the tough Western Conference pack for years to come and would like to be a contender as soon as possible. Thus, rebuilding a "good enough" team was considered the best option, even if it would cost them their best player in Bledsoe.

Meanwhile, The Big Lead's Jason McIntyre suggested that the Knicks should not let the opportunity of acquiring a Top 15 point guard like Bledsoe pass.

Bledsoe should be the perfect "plug-and-play" talent that Phil Jackson is looking for, as the Knicks president expressed his inclination on having a young veteran than having to pick a rookie who still needs to be developed.

Trading down their pick is also fine for New York since they are said to be eyeing to select Wisconsin center-forward Frank Kaminsky at no. 4. Even with the 13th pick, Kaminsky is likely to still be available as no other team seemed to have a huge interest on him except the Knicks.
