According to Forbes, Lorde's net worth is $2 million. A big decline from $9 million, but at the tender age of 18, and considering she only had one album released with a slew of Grammys already, Lorde's net worth is well on its way.

One thing is for sure, however. Lorde is on the list of filthy rich celebrities under 25, reported Page Six, and Lorde's net worth of more than a million is proof to that.

Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O'Connor, or Lorde, was born in Devonport, Auckland, New Zealand.

At five, she has already shown potential for the limelight as she started performing in theater productions. With an aptitude for English, Lorde has loved reading early on. When she turned 14, she already began editing her mother's master's thesis and has read books way above her grade.

At the same age, she has already signed with Universal Records and begun recording her own tracks.

Her professional career began a year before at 13 after her father submitted to area talent scouts a song recording of her in a school talent show.

With her career's history, it would not be surprising if Lorde's net worth climbs its way to hundreds of millions.

In 2012, she was able to release her first EP.

Named "The Love Club," her album featured five songs only. One of her first singles, "Royals," became the album's first hit.

Since then, her full-length album "Pure Heroine" was released, which received numerous major music awards.

At US Billboard charts, "Royals" was able to climb to no. 1, making it the first no. 1 US single for New Zealand singer.

Earning the title of youngest person to record a no. 1 track since the mid-90s at the young age of 16, Lorde's net worth started climbing from there.

In 2014, she had four Grammy Awards nominations, which included "Record of the Year."

Her most recent song released was "Yellow Flicker Beat," which appeared on "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1" movie soundtrack.

This year, Lorde's net worth may well be growing again. The "Royals" singer is making a new album about leaving her hometown, and she is writing two of its singles.

On Wednesday, the New Zealand songstress took to Tumblr to answer fans' questions and update them on her upcoming album, according to The International Business Times.

"You are right and that makes me sad," the "Pure Heroine" singer responded to a fan who asked why she has not been active on social media.

"However, I'm sitting in the studio just now working on two different songs simultaneously cause sometimes it happens like that and you're so excited about two ideas you can't stick to one and you're flitting back and forth writing the different stories so, I promise good things are happening," the singer added.
