In between the sheets, teenagers are more intelligent now than ever with the invention of a condom that alters its color when in comes in contact with a sexually transmitted disease (STD).

According to IFL Science, the condoms contain molecules that will simultaneously alter its color when it comes in contact with a pathogen, specifically those that causes sexually transmitted disease (STD). And if the invention is not surprising enough, it also changes in a specific color for a corresponding disease such as, blue for syphilis, green for Chlamydia, yellow if a person has herpes and purple for human papillomavirus or (HPV).

The condom named S.T EYE has won the highest award in the health category of the Teen tech Award held in London. The contest is said to help enhance the teen's ability to invent and share their knowledge with the world. Daanyaal Ali, one of the inventors said, "We created the S.T EYE as a new way for STI detection to help the future of the next generation. We wanted to make something that made detecting harmful STIs safer than ever before, so that people can take immediate action in the privacy of their own homes without the often scary procedures at the doctors."

The invention of the said condom has won the team $1,500 dollars and will receive their awards at the Buckingham Palace this year. Although the invention is yet to be implemented with a prototype, questions have been raised regarding its usefulness like, will the condom detect who, between two partners has the disease? Can it also detect multiple sexually transmitted diseases or can the condom detects both from each person?

According to the Daily Mail, the concept was created by students from Illford namely, Musaz Nawaz, Daanyaal Ali and Chirag Shah. With the evolution of the "smart" condom, the team is also working on wristband device that will simultaneously alarms an emergency service once the condom detects a sexually transmitted disease.

The contest was to persuade students 11-16 years old to invent or come up with something that will make life easier on a daily basis.
