Chelsea FC had already submitted a transfer deal for Stoke City goal keeper Asmir Begovic. The Bosnia-Herzegovina international is being targeted by a lot of clubs in the Premier League this summer, but the Blues are the best club out of the bunch.

Begovic has always been very consistent goal keeper in the last few seasons he spent in the Premier League. Since he moved to Stoke City in 2010, he became the 2nd choice goal keeper of the club behind 1st choice veteran Thomas Sørensen and he just played four games in his 1st season there.

But when Sørensen got injured the next year, Begovic took his opportunity by the horn, starting in every league match for Stoke City and eventually earning the club's Player of the Year award in 2012-13 season.

In November, the Bosnia-Herzegovina international became the fifth goal keeper to score a goal in Premier League's history, scoring from 97.5 yards out against Southampton 13 seconds into the game.  Since then, the 27 year-old has always been linked with many big clubs, but Stoke has been able to fend off those interests and make him stay at the Britannia Stadium.

Finding a quality replacement for their goal keeper Thibaut Courtois in case he got injured during their run for another the title this forthcoming season is a top priority for the Blues. In the past, Chelsea FC was always having a hard time finding a top quality 2nd choice goal keeper, with the likes of Henrique Hilario and Ross Turnbull backing up Cech.

Even though Chelsea FC made this department completely solid by having veteran Australian Mark Schwarzeras to back-up of Cech in the 2013-14 season. Manager Jose Mourinho didn't feel completely convinced about the Czech, prompting him to call up now no.1 choice Courtois after the Belgian played exceptionally well for Atletico De Madrid.

Without a 2nd choice goal keeper on the team, Chelsea FC believed acquiring Begovic is necessary in order for them to stay in contention for the Premier League title and several cups up for grabs next season.
