NBA Trade Rumors: Warriors’ Draymond Green To Test Free Agency Waters?

Draymond Green's salary playing for the Golden State Warriors in three years is pegged at less than a million dollars annually. That had been a steal considering what he was able to contribute to the championship team last season. This offseason, he is set to earn more money than he had ever imagined.

As soon as the clock ticks July 1, the champion forward is going to be a restricted free agent, which means he can accept potential suitors but Golden State still has the chance to retain him by matching any offer sheet he signs with another team.

This was the first time Green is going to experience the business side of the NBA and he was reportedly keen on making the most out of it.

Yahoo Sports' Marc J. Spears reported that the former Michigan State Spartan is "eager for free agency courtships." Aside from the Warriors, at least three teams are said to be interested in the services of the 2015 All-Defensive First Teamer, namely the Detroit Pistons, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Houston Rockets.

Green expressed interest in "face-to-face" meeting with any prospective team that wants to pursue him this summer. He told Spears that he wanted to enjoy the whole free agency process and he does not want to have any expectations with regards to it.

However, the Warriors are expected to match any deal the 6-foot-7 forward will receive from rival teams, as per Bleacher Report. Golden State was said to be firm on keeping their run-and-gun trio of Green, Stephen Curry, and Klay Thompson for the long haul.

The Score indicated that if the Warriors decide to sign Green, then their payroll may go as high as $100 million for next season, which is maybe the reason why the team is allegedly trading away their highest-paid player David Lee.

If Bob Myers could find a team that is willing to take on Lee's contract, then keeping Green is definite.

Green's progressive play at both ends in all three seasons certainly earned him the right for a much larger contract than what he is earning right now. The only question is if the Warriors are willing to pay him for how much he is worth.

The answer will be revealed in the next few weeks.
