The New Nick Jonas: New Body, New Movie, New Nickname

Who would've thought that that wholesome, curly-haired Jonas brother would be playing the role of an MMA fighter?

Not only does Nick Jonas have a new role and a new movie, he has a new nickname to go along with it. Brothers Frankie, Joe and Kevin couldn't help but think of the green superhero with Jonas' newfound physique - so of course, they've nicknamed him the "Hulk", a nickname he doesn't seem to hate.

In DIRECTV's Audience Network's new drama series, "Kingdom", Jonas plays an aspiring MMA fighter. And geez louise, he does not look like that skinny Disney kid anymore.

Aside from contact sport violence, the show's three-minute teaser shows the characters' involvement in drugs and prostitution - a deliberate move by Jonas to shed off his wholesome, teen image.

Former Friday Night Lights star Matt Lauria also stars in the series.

Gaining around 15 pounds of muscle, Jonas talked about his role on "Kingdom" as he promoted his new album and single "Chains".

"I really wanted to look like an animal who internalizes a lot, but when he's in the cage and he's fighting that's when you see this kind of animalistic mentality that he has," he shared.

Although the 21-year old Jonas has lost half of the weight he gained for the role, he continues to work out several times a week to maintain his toned body.

Lately, Jonas hasn't had any qualms about showing some skin. He has been posting semi-nude photos on Instagram, as well as going shirtless in the flick, "Careful What You Wish For", which is scheduled to premiere this year.

Jonas was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes nine years ago, so keeping his health in check and working out wasn't just for aesthetic reasons.  He shared that living a healthy lifestyle has helped with keeping his diabetes in line, so he chose to stick with it.
