Forbes named Katy Perry as the third highest-paid celebrity of 2015 on Monday, with pre-tax earnings of $135 million in the last year.

The 30-year-old singer is just behind Floyd Mayweather who earned $300 million and Manny Pacquiao who earned $160 million in the last 12 months.

While Celebrity Net Worth claimed that Katy Perry's net worth is $200 million dollars, the figures from Forbes are still a pretty big deal considering the "Roar" singer is the only non-boxer to end up in Celebrity 100 list this year.

What made the American singer-songwriter and producer beat tough competitors like Taylor Swift with $80 million and Beyoncé with $54.5 million?

According to The Business Insider, Katy Perry's net worth is mainly due to her popularity abroad.

Between the years 2009 and 2014, each year, Perry has earned between $30 and $50 million from merchandise, touring, album sales, as well as endorsements. Between June 2014 and June 2015, Katy Perry's net worth was $135 million in estimates before taxes, lawyers, agents, and lifestyle expenses.

Her Prismatic World Tour also brought in the big bucks as she earned more than $2 million in each city. She toured 126 cities, 75 of which were overseas.

"Of the 124 shows she played during our June-to-June scoring period for earnings, 75 of them took place abroad, spanning 27 different countries and four continents," Forbes reported. "All in all, 60% of her total income now flows from outside of North America . . . her hits translate."

A total of $20 per head went to merchandise sales.

"She's averaged a staggering $20 per head per night in merchandise sales on the tour, according to her managers, about four times the industry's average," according to Forbes.

By late 2014, Katy Perry's net worth soared with her hard work.

The hardworking pastor's daughter did 23 shows in Australia and five in China.

"People appreciate when you come," Perry told Forbes. "They know how hard it is."

In addition to being industrious, Perry is also a savvy businesswoman when it comes to her endorsements including Proactiv, CoverGirl and Adidas.

"One thing I've been able to do is know the power of having equity deals," Perry said. "I don't ever like to do things unless I'm really a part of them."

Perhaps another factor to Katy Perry's net worth is her acceptance of new trends in music.

Unlike her nemesis, Taylor Swift, Perry welcomes streaming-music sites such as Spotify.

"Music has changed," Perry told Forbes. "The record is that launching pad for all kinds of other creative branches."

Forbes's issue featuring Katy Perry's net worth was announced on Instagram by Perry herself. She explained to her 23 million followers that "there is no shame in being a boss."

"Before accepting the offer to be on the cover of Forbes, I was told that a lot of women have previously shied away from doing it. I wondered if it was because they thought socially it would look like they were flaunting or bragging or it wasn't a humble decision," she told the publication.

"Ladies, there is a difference between being humble and working hard to see the fruits of your labor blossom, and your dreams realized. Hopefully this cover can be an inspiration to women out there that it's okay to be proud of hard earned success and that there is no shame in being a boss," she added.
