Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck announced a day after their 10^th wedding anniversary that they are going to file for a divorce. Nobody would have suspected that something wrong was going on between the couple who has often graced red carpet events looking loved up.

"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding," the couple said in a joint statement.

A report from Inquisitr suggested that one of the possible reasons why the couple is breaking up is because of Ben's ongoing friendship with his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez. The two are allegedly "in touch" via e-mail after they got "flirty" at the Academy Awards that happened this year.

"Everyone is talking about J-Lo and Ben and saying it's inevitable they will get together again at some point. We call them the Richard Burton and Liz Taylor of Hollywood," said a source.

The Sun reported that the reconnection that allegedly happened between Ben and JLo was something that Garner didn't like. However, it should also be considered that Lopez recently reunited with her on-off boyfriend Casper Smart.

According to Entertainment Tonight, fans of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are hoping for a reunion with a sequel of "Gigli" in mind. The two dated for 18 months until 2004 but still separated even after Affleck proposed to the Latina star.

Friends of the couple revealed that Affleck and Garner have been having problems for quite some time now. It was revealed that Ben's marriage collapsed after he hit the booze again to be in character for his role in the movie "Gone Girl."

The media has cited different reasons for their divorce such as career envy, alcohol dependency and gambling problems. Affleck once gave credits to his wife as the reason for his sobriety. But his obsession with gambling rose in a new level when he was kicked out of a Las Vegas casino last year.

In recent months leading up to their divorce, Affleck was also absent in a few important family events. He missed Garner's birthday back in April and was away for Mother's Day last May.
