Kung Fu actor Wu Jing is scared of fights.

Ironic for an action star who became famous for martial arts flicks in over 20 years, Wu said he still represses the urge to flinch during fight scenes.

"When a powerful kick is flying at my face, my natural instinct is to wince and dodge," Wu Jing said at a media event for the success of "SPL2." "But heroes sustain strong gazes and act like it's nothing."

The event for the action-thriller, where Wu Jing played the lead, was held in Beijing on Sunday, according to SINA English.

The success of "SPL2" is a victory for the Kung Fu genre, which has been dwindling in recent years. The successful film reportedly generated over 460 million yuan since its release on June 18, making it the highest-grossing Chinese film in the last two weeks.

During the media event, Wu Jing told reporters that he had endured nearly 400 kicks for the filming of just one scene in "SPL2." In the scene, Wu's character, an undercover cop, got beaten and choked by human-organ traffickers.

"Kicks . . . punches . . . being hurled from high platforms-this happened several times a day. If there's a sequel, I hope I can get revenge on those who assaulted me," Wu Jing told reporters, who rolled his eyes while smiling in jest.

Despite having to attend his wedding in crutches on May last year, Wu knows that pain has an extremely high price.

Wu Jing, 41, earned the title of the "1 billion king" because of his films "Wolf Warriors" and "SPL2." Both reportedly grossed more than a billion yuan in Chinese box office.

Wu Jing, who is sometimes called Jacky Wu or Jing Wu, is best known as Hawkman or Jackie for the film "Tai Chi Boxer" in 1996 and Kong Ko in the film "Fatal Contact" in 2006, according to Wikipedia.

A former Wu Shu champion, Wu Jing began training in Martial Arts at the tender age of six. He was spotted by action choreographer Yuen Woo-ping in April 1995. Together, they made three TV series, including "Master of Tai Chi," "New Shaolin Temple," and "Swordsman of Flying Dagger," all of which have become successes, according to Asian Movie Plus.
