World no. 13 Agnieszka Radwanska is on familiar turf once again as she beat Jelena Jankovic in straight sets to reach the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon Championships for the fifth time.

Radwanska, who has yet to secure her first Grand Slam win, needed almost two hours to slow down the resilient Serb who defeated defending champion Petra Kvitova in the 3rd round.

Jankovic showed signs of hope at the early stages of the game when she secured a 3-1 lead but it didn't go well from there. The Pole played aggressively and capitalized on the weak points of her opponent to take charge of the match which, on paper, was fairly even with both players hitting almost the same percentage of winners and unforced errors.

Radwanska now moves on to the quarterfinals and will face rising star Madison Keys who took care of qualifier Olga Govortsova in three sets.

"I think I was a little bit nervous at the beginning," said Keys who went down on the first set. "She was playing really well and I wasn't playing as smart as I wanted. But I sat down and gave myself a talking to, I started playing my shots and kind of got myself back in control."

Keys, who is coached by former no. 1 Lindsay Davenport, is looking to reach her second grand slam semifinal appearance this year.

Meanwhile, former Champion Maria Sharapova also booked a slot in the quarterfinals after defeating Zarina Diyas in straight sets with a score of 6-4 6-4. Since 2012, the world no. 3 hasn't gone beyond the fourth round but this win gets her into the final eight once again and a chance to capture her second Wimbledon crown.

"I lost at this stage last year so I was extremely happy to win and go around further," Sharapova told the Guardian. "My opponent is a really good grass-court player, she stays really low and hits the ball hard, so I really had to be ready for all of her shots. I wanted to start the tournament strong and I think I've done that well but it's only going to get tougher from here."

If Sharapova advances, she may face world no. 1 Serena Williams in the semifinals.
