Known for its design and durable time pieces, Casio has a legendary reputation when it comes to watches; however, now, the renowned watchmaker has decided to foray into the domain of wearable technology. The latest Casio Smartwatch update indicates that the brand has decided to go head to head with Apple as it confirms to launch its smartwatch by early next year.

According to The Star, Casio is currently working on a smart wearable project and is confident of releasing the new model by 2016. This move by Casio would go against Apple, the technology company that has been looking to make a strong foray into the domain of wearable technology for quite some time.

Apple also has its smartwatch model coming out around the same time; however, Casio has said that it is keen on to differentiate their offering, as per a statement issued by Kazuhiro Kashio, the new president of the company.

The Casio smartwatch is focused on the core theme of a watch that tries to be smart as opposed to the other options in its category. The new model is expected to hit markets across America in Japan by early 2016. Comfort and durability are also going to be major area of focus for Casio smartwatches. The report also confirmed that the Casio smartwatch is likely to be priced around $400 in the market.

Recently, Casio hosted a grand museum exhibit in Japan where it proudly showcased its digital watches. The idea was to convey the fact that its pioneering digital wristwatches came long before the present day smartwatch, as confirmed by Stuff TV. Soon after this, Casio confirmed its decision to go into the smartwatches category. Apparently, Casio has been working on its smartwatch for the last four years and looks like the watchmaker is finally ready to launch.

The new device is targeted towards men who are involved in rigorous outdoor activities like adventure sports, travel, etc.

Talking about a March release in 2016, the company President confirmed that they were working aggressively and could put forth the final product before the expected date.
